Summary

A new love, a secret sister, and a summer she'll never forget。

When Abby signs up for a DNA service, it’s mainly to give her friend and secret love interest, Leo, a nudge。 After all, she knows who she is already: Avid photographer。 Injury-prone tree climber。 Best friend to Leo and Connie … although ever since the B。E。I。 (Big Embarrassing Incident) with Leo, things have been awkward on that front。

But she didn’t know she’s a younger sister。

When the DNA service reveals Abby has a secret sister, shimmery-haired Instagram star Savannah Tully, it’s hard to believe they’re from the same planet, never mind the same parents—especially considering Savannah, queen of green smoothies, is only a year and a half older than Abby herself。

The logical course of action? Meet up at summer camp (obviously) and figure out why Abby’s parents gave Savvy up for adoption。 But there are complications: Savvy is a rigid rule-follower and total narc。 Leo is the camp’s co-chef, putting Abby's growing feelings for him on blast。 And her parents have a secret that threatens to unravel everything。

But part of life is showing up, leaning in, and learning to fit all your awkward pieces together。 Because sometimes, the hardest things can also be the best ones。

Didn’t realise that this was YA targeted until I had began。 A sweet story though predictable

Surprisingly Great! Not what I was expecting at all but the cute cover got me & the concept was so entertaining。 I really didn't see whet apt of this was heading but about 2/3 way through i couldn't put it down。 I mean, it gets right into the nitty- gritty but just has the greatest twists and turns the further you get into it。 4/5 only because I wanted more "matching" in the romance department。 Surprisingly Great! Not what I was expecting at all but the cute cover got me & the concept was so entertaining。 I really didn't see whet apt of this was heading but about 2/3 way through i couldn't put it down。 I mean, it gets right into the nitty- gritty but just has the greatest twists and turns the further you get into it。 4/5 only because I wanted more "matching" in the romance department。 。。。more

Cute summer read, with nicely fleshed out LGBTQ characters who were unexpected。

I kinda wanna read tweet cute now。What I liked:- amazing friendships: Abby's friendship with Finn, Connie, Leo and the girls at camp were all different dynamics but all the relationships were built really solidly。 A lot of YA books kinda half-ass or ignore the friendship aspect of the book, but this one did a really good job depicting all the relationships。- the humor in the book was pretty funny。 Enough pop culture references and funny dialogue to be comical but not corny。- relatable protagonis I kinda wanna read tweet cute now。What I liked:- amazing friendships: Abby's friendship with Finn, Connie, Leo and the girls at camp were all different dynamics but all the relationships were built really solidly。 A lot of YA books kinda half-ass or ignore the friendship aspect of the book, but this one did a really good job depicting all the relationships。- the humor in the book was pretty funny。 Enough pop culture references and funny dialogue to be comical but not corny。- relatable protagonist who was unique enough to stand out without the author trying too hard to make her memorable- also, artist protagonist that was actually written realistically。 For some reason mcs with interest in art are always written terribly but Emma Lord managed to depict Abby's photography in a natural way and incorporate it in her thoight process without seeming pretentious。- summer camp setting。 I will literally read any YA contemporary book set at summer camp。- interesting family dynamic and really cool sisterly relationship too- to add to that, it was also really nice that Abby's relationship with Savvy was portrayed realistically。 They didn't get along immediately and there was a sort of awkwardness, and it made their relationship more authentic。 The author did a great job at showing their chemistry as characters while also showing the sort of distance between their personalities and upbringings。- mickey- the romance was sweet and minimal, how I like it。 Leo was a great love interest and a generally great person, and he was always looking out for Abby。 The romance was realistic and I liked that it never felt like Leo's sole purpose was to be the hot, perfect guy for the mc。 His life didn't fully revolve around being with her。- the writing was easy to follow and the story moved at a fast pace。 The story never dragged and I enjoyed the whole book from cover to cover。What I didn't like:- miscommunication between Leo and Abby。 It wasn't terrible in the book and didn't ruin anything but it did annoy me when a lot of feelings could've been sorted out with a simple conversation。 - occasionally the dialogue and writing felt like it tried too hard to be teenage-girl-ish。 Again, not a prominent issue and for the most part the book did a good job at depicting Abby's age in a way that didn't feel alien。 Emma Lord did much better than a lot of YA writers and the inner monologues felt accurate to how teens really think。 I'm really just nitpicking honestly。All in all, it was a good book and it took me basically a day to finish。 It's a great summer read and I'll definitely be looking into more of Emma Lord's stuff。 。。。more

I know this is YA but it felt sooo young。 The drama and the characters responses felt more like the actions of a 13yo than a 17yo。 It was honestly painful to read and I usually enjoy YA fiction。

More like 3。5 or 3。7, because by the end I was smiling ridiculously。 I just thought it was a bit jumbled in the beginning, and hard to follow at first。 But overall, this book was super cute and heartwarming, especially by the end! I think it really captures what it’s like to love people, friends and family both, and how important memories are!

Fun, light teen romance for students who liked To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before。 Summer camp read。

A really well written YA novel that has LGBT+ representation, family drama, and a loving twist to it all。 Amazingly done!

Not sure why I kept listening。 Emma Lord's writing seem to be all over the place and a bit cheesy。 The only thing I found interesting was Abby and Savy's mystery relationship。 Not sure why I kept listening。 Emma Lord's writing seem to be all over the place and a bit cheesy。 The only thing I found interesting was Abby and Savy's mystery relationship。 。。。more

I don’t know why I didn’t like this book。 I kept picking it up but just didn’t enjoy it at all。 Ended up skipping from chapter 13 to chapter 23 just so I could get the jist of the ending。

You Have a Match by Emma Lord •Abby signed up for a DNA service to support her friend and secret love interest, Leo。 What she finds is she has an old sister she never knew about。 They decide to meet up at summer camp to figure out what happened with their parents。 •This was a cute YA novel。 It was a sweet story of friendship and sisterhood。 If you’re looking for a light, easy read - this was a good one。

This was a truly wonderful young adult read。 Everything about it was perfect。 I read Emma Lord's debut last year and after loving this one so much, she is going on my auto-buy list。 Abby's friends pressure her into taking a DNA test and lo and behold, she finds out she has a full sister, Savvy, that she never knew about。 Savvy and Abby meet up secretly and want to get to know each other more。 Savvy is working at a secluded youth camp this summer and she wants Abby to sign up so they can get to k This was a truly wonderful young adult read。 Everything about it was perfect。 I read Emma Lord's debut last year and after loving this one so much, she is going on my auto-buy list。 Abby's friends pressure her into taking a DNA test and lo and behold, she finds out she has a full sister, Savvy, that she never knew about。 Savvy and Abby meet up secretly and want to get to know each other more。 Savvy is working at a secluded youth camp this summer and she wants Abby to sign up so they can get to know each other。 Abby agrees, but finds this camp is not what she bargained for。 However, her crush and best friend, Leo, is working there too, and Abby begins making friends。 The first half of the book was heavily on the camp and friends。 The second half was mainly focused on Savvy and both sets of parents and the mystery behind what happened so many years ago。 I loved both parts of the book so much, but especially enjoyed the second half。 Finding out what happened was heartbreaking and emotional。 The ending was wrapped up perfectly, giving so much closure。 I LOVED it and I would absolutely recommend this。**I would also add that I also listened to the audible version of this and the narrator was fantastic。 。。。more

-okay PARENT TRAP-was super cute and lovable in every which way-but the slow burn was TOO slow for me-loved watching the bond between Abby and Savvy grow, though

It was just fine。 Kinda too perfect of an ending for me and it just didn’t suck me in。

3。5 This was a cute kind of spin on The Parent Trap where two teen girls learns via DNA test that they are sisters and while at summer camp try to find a way to figure out what happened and bring their parents back together。 There’s also general camp hi-jinx and some romance and discussions about teenagers struggling to find their place in the world as they grow up and relationships change。 Lots of LGBTQ characters。 I read this in a day。 I am working through a much darker bleak book and was stuc 3。5 This was a cute kind of spin on The Parent Trap where two teen girls learns via DNA test that they are sisters and while at summer camp try to find a way to figure out what happened and bring their parents back together。 There’s also general camp hi-jinx and some romance and discussions about teenagers struggling to find their place in the world as they grow up and relationships change。 Lots of LGBTQ characters。 I read this in a day。 I am working through a much darker bleak book and was stuck and not reading much so this was a great change of pace。 YA is always a great way for me to relax。 。。。more

This book was mot what I expected。 Young love and finding yourself。 Just good reading

Feel-good romance with enough complexity to keep it interesting but tame enough to keep it appropriate for a middle school audience。

Kim McCoy

Cute YA but I didn’t love it like I was expecting。 Parts of the middle dragged on for me with Abby and Savvy pranking and trying to get to know each other and Abby taking forever to talk to Leo。 But I thought the summer camp setting was fun。

This didn't quite meet my expectations after Tweet Cute, although I think that might have been mostly because I did have such high expectations, and also cos I (as usual these days it seems) didn't have the time to dedicate to it to whizz through it as I generally seem to enjoy contemporaries more when I can do that。 BUT this was still super cute。 I enjoy the skill that Lord has in creating such heightened drama out of contemporary lives。 I really enjoyed the family themes, especially the sister This didn't quite meet my expectations after Tweet Cute, although I think that might have been mostly because I did have such high expectations, and also cos I (as usual these days it seems) didn't have the time to dedicate to it to whizz through it as I generally seem to enjoy contemporaries more when I can do that。 BUT this was still super cute。 I enjoy the skill that Lord has in creating such heightened drama out of contemporary lives。 I really enjoyed the family themes, especially the sisterhood。 The romance is super cute, and there's an exploration of all sorts of different friendships which I also enjoyed。 The summer camp setting is always a vibe so that was fun, and Abby's love of photography was really beautifully explained too I thought。 I feel like Lord really packed in all sorts of things into this book and I thought it was all really well done。100% will be back for more of Lord's work and I will endeavour to dedicate the time to it in the future。 。。。more

I read this in a day。 Having a sister I found via a DNA match, I was very interested in looking at all the emotions spelled out for me。 Looking to see if I precessed having this new sister in a similar way。 It wasn't way off。 I liked how the connection came with time and being together, not the similar mannerisms or similar looks。 It's a good easy read。 I read this in a day。 Having a sister I found via a DNA match, I was very interested in looking at all the emotions spelled out for me。 Looking to see if I precessed having this new sister in a similar way。 It wasn't way off。 I liked how the connection came with time and being together, not the similar mannerisms or similar looks。 It's a good easy read。 。。。more

this was so undeniably cute and i love emma lord's writing。 this was basically a reverse parent trap。 my only complaint is the romance。 you could take leo out of the story completely and it would be just as good if not better。 i was rooting for finn。 this was so undeniably cute and i love emma lord's writing。 this was basically a reverse parent trap。 my only complaint is the romance。 you could take leo out of the story completely and it would be just as good if not better。 i was rooting for finn。 。。。more

More like 3。5, but not enough to push up to 4 stars…What I loved: found family trope and supportive family trope both made excellent appearances These tropes feel YA to me in the best way。 They are essential for most coming-of-age stories, which for me, YA contemporary always has to touch on。What I wasn’t a fan of: intricate adoption details that were plopped in to add tons of tension and build up, but then suddenly “fixed” after only one conversation… Adoption stories tend to poke me as I’m an More like 3。5, but not enough to push up to 4 stars…What I loved: found family trope and supportive family trope both made excellent appearances These tropes feel YA to me in the best way。 They are essential for most coming-of-age stories, which for me, YA contemporary always has to touch on。What I wasn’t a fan of: intricate adoption details that were plopped in to add tons of tension and build up, but then suddenly “fixed” after only one conversation… Adoption stories tend to poke me as I’m an adopted child, and they often are glossed over in fiction… needless to say… this was a fun read, there were just details that grated on me。 I recommend it to fans of Kasie West YA Contemporary books 。。。more

I know this was recommended by someone but can’t remember who now! This was a fun easy read (especially after reading a few heavier books-it was a great pallet cleanser)!Interesting story of a found sister and coming of age with a summer camp setting!Little swearing, few sweet kisses, g/g relationship, death of family member, kid lying to parents- recommend 13 and up
